HDD PCB BIOS

We know most Hard Drive PCB has the BIOS(ROM/NVRAM). The BIOS includes the unique information to access the HDD's system area. If the BIOS information is not compatible with your HDD, there is no way to read the HDD's data. So we should find the BIOS, then move the original PCB's BIOS to the replacement PCB.

We should know which is the BIOS.
Most PCB's BIOS is the 8pins (4 pins on each sides) with 25P05VP、25P10VP、25F512、25F1024、25F1024AN、SST25VF512、SST25VF010, etc.

Hard Drive PCB's BIOS/ROM Chip

1. Some Seagate PCBs have BIOS chips, the others are missing the BIOS chips. For Example: Seagate PCB 100468303

If the PCB is missing the BIOS, you can directly swap this PCB.

2. Some Western Digital PCBs have BIOS chips, the others are missing the BIOS chips. For Example: Western Digital PCB 2060-771642-001

Sometimes if the PCB is missing the BIOS chip, maybe the PCB's BIOS information is integrated on the Main Controller IC. You should exchange the Main Controller IC to let the HDD be recognized.

Some Western Digital PCBs have the different types BIOS. For Example: Wester Digital PCB 2060-701675-004

3. Some PCB has 2 BIOS. For Example: Hitachi PCB 0A53129, Hitachi PCB 0A58730

4. Samsung PCB's BIOS is special: some has the 8pins BIOS. Some is integrated on the Main Controller IC. Some is integrated on the other chips. For Example: Samsung PCB BF41-00354A, BF41-00133A, BF41-00076A
