Q: Recently I lost a WD (Western Digital) 3TB HDD. I do have backups but not as recent as I’d prefer. I was reading your guide: https://www.hddzone.com/hard_drive_pcb_replacement.html and mine fits the description of firmware corruption.
I thought the firmware was on the PCB, but your guide says: “Those problem is caused by the HDD firmware corrupted.” Your guide aught to read: “Those problems are caused by the HDD firmware corrupted.” Also, where is the firmware located?
A: For most PCB, the firmware is the BIOS.
Every PCB’s BIOS includes the unique info, so swapping PCB can’t reslove the firmware’s problem.
