The HDD can’t be recognized after swapping PCB

Customer: Monsieur Kung Daniel à acheté une carte PCB 2060-701675-001, le HDD fonctionne mais il n’est pas reconnu. Le disque contiens des données à récupérer. Pouvez-vous m’aider? Merci Claude.

HDDZONE: Do you mean the HDD can spin but can’t be recognized by our PCB? How about the HDD’s problem with the original PCB?

Customer: Actually the drive is working but it is recognized by the program Testdisk-7.0 win64 as a hard drive is a 2 TB while the PCB 2060-701675-001 is for a 500 GB hard drive.
With the original PCB the disc does not turn and a chip on the PCB heats a lot.

HDDZONE: Please move your original PCB’s BIOS to the replacement PCB. You can move the BIOS from your original PCB by using hot-air gun, then solder it on the replacement board. Please refer: http://www.datarecoveryunion.com/hard-drive-rom-chip-swapreplacement/.  Or you can find an electronics repair shop help you.

Customer: I replaced the Rom, everything works perfectly. Thank you

postscript: Most PCB needs to use it’s original PCB’s BIOS.(most boards are need to be changed the BIOS, some boards needs to be changed the Main Controller IC). If you don’t know which chip needs to be changed, please contact us.

If you don’t change the BIOS chip, some HDD will not spin; some HDD will have clicking noise or show the wrong HDD info for you.  Like the above case, the HDD read showed our test HDD’s info for our customer.

Change BIOS/Mian Controller IC is very important.
