Hello, I have a Seagate 1TB HDD Model# ST31000520AS with PCB board# 100536501 REV A.
This was an external drive that I used for backups. It will not power up any more when I plug in the power source. I tested another driver to make sure and that works fine. I have several backups and lots of software on it. If I replace the PCB on the non working drive, will I sill be able to retrieve my data?
If your HDD can’t spin, you can swap PCB to try. https://www.hddzone.com/st31000520as-seagate-pcb-100536501-rev-a-p-830.html is your donor PCB.
When you get this PCB, you need to move your original PCB’s BIOS to the replacement PCB. The 8pins (4 pins on each sides) with 25P05VP、25P10VP、25F512、25F1024、25F1024AN、SST25VF512、SST25VF010, etc. are the BIOS.
If the HDD’s problem was caused by PCB, swapping PCB and BIOS can get the data back.
