Q: I have a WD Elements My Passport drive which still operates but very very slowly. It gets occasional random unreadable blocks that on a later pass read OK. The main problem is that the reading is VERY SLOW, like 40 kbps or something, would take years to fully scan! It’s PCB is 2060-771961-000 REV P1. Is there a SATA equivalent PCB that I could replace with to get faster access instead of the USB3 interface like my bad drive?
A: https://www.hddzone.com/wd-2060771960000-pcb-p-533.html is your SATA PCB.
When you get this PCB, you need to move your original PCB’s BIOS to the replacement PCB. The 8pins (4 pins on each sides) with 25P05VP、25P10VP、25F512、25F1024、25F1024AN、SST25VF512、SST25VF010, etc. are the BIOS.
