Western Digital PCB 2060-001113-001 Circuit Board
1. i am new to this field and as it goes i am looking for help. WD1600 Caviar drive with blown SMOOTH controller chip. Can i use a different pcb or will that damage the drive irreversibly? do you have an idea?
2. Ah, you know how it goes. I need the controller from this specific drive for a repair. More than just the right model, I need a manufacturing date as close as I can get to Feb 2002 to get the right board revision.
Hey, you know you got one. In the box by the side of the couch. Maybe in the closet next to those (almost new) running shoes. It’s the one you retired a couple years ago. Noisey, nasty, loud, bad sectors, whatever.
EDIT: adding the 20 gig and 60 gig model Protege drives: wd200EB and wd600EB, as well as the WD400EB. The controller board will have the model number: 2060 001113-001 along its edge. And, in the middle the number J-0 94V-0. I think this will require a mfg date sometime in 2002.
